UNDERPINNING

Underpinning is the process of strengthening the foundation of an existing structure. The Traditional method strengthens an existing structure's foundation by digging boxes/panels by hand or using small equipment, and sequentially pouring concrete into each box/panel. The result is a new foundation built underneath the existing foundation. This underpinning method is generally applied when the existing foundation is at a shallow depth.
